Russia launches unconventional attacks — Ukrainian officer on Novopavlivka direction
On the Novopavlivka front, Russian forces are trying to attack in different areas to get closer to the Ukrainian defense's front line
This was reported by Orеst Drymalovskyi, a spokesperson for Ukraine's 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, in an interview on Hromadske Radio.
He mentioned that in this area of the front, Russia continues active assault operations, primarily using infantry and small assault groups.
"They are trying to approach our front line using motorcycles, ATVs, and buggies. They actively use this light, maneuverable equipment, attempting to break through the so-called kill zone created by our drone operators at high speed. Essentially, any Russian advance within 5-7 kilometers of our front line is extremely dangerous for them," the brigade spokesperson explained.
According to him, this is where Russian forces suffers the most losses. For example, just yesterday, Ukrainian drone operators destroyed 13 Russian soldiers attempting to storm the defensive positions, while up to 10 others were injured.
The military spokesperson emphasized that Russian troops make daily attempts to breach the defense line but face strong resistance.
"Mainly, these infantry groups cannot even approach our front line to engage in a firefight with our infantry in the forward trenches because they are eliminated by FPV drones and drop systems. Our artillerymen and grenade launchers are working very effectively, preventing the Russians from getting close to the front line," he noted.
Drymalovskyi added that the situation remains threatening across the entire width of their sector. He said that Russian forces try to act "unconventionally," attacking in different areas daily.
"They are trying to catch us off guard. However, in the area of active combat, it is extremely difficult to create anything extraordinary, both for the enemy and for us, considering the number of UAVs and their saturation on the front lines. It's very difficult to operate armored vehicles, both for us and the Russians," the military representative concluded.
- Serhii Hrabskiy, military expert and retired colonel with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that Russia is continuously increasing the number of drones, launching them in groups at high altitudes.
