No sharp escalation in fighting observed on Pokrovsk front — Ukrainian officer
Russia continues to pressure the Pokrovsk direction, however, there has been no sharp increase in Russian activity observed
Sergeant Serhii Kolesnychenko, communications officer of the 148th Separate Artillery Zhytomyr Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces, stated this on Espreso.
"In the Pokrovsk direction, Russia continues active combat operations and maintains a moderate level of force and resource deployment. These are not isolated pressure attempts, but rather sustained efforts that Russia has been conducting for an extended period as part of its overall campaign in this direction. However, there are no grounds to speak of a sharp escalation or unprecedented pressure at the current stage. In previous periods, the Russian forces have already demonstrated comparable, and sometimes even higher, levels of combat activity with active involvement of personnel, artillery, and other types of weaponry," Kolesnychenko said.
The officer emphasized that Russia is not betting on quick results, but rather on accumulating effect through prolonged pressure and repeated actions.
"The current situation is characterized by high strain, but without changes that could indicate Russia achieving an operational breakthrough. The logic behind Russian actions is clear to us. The main goal is the gradual exhaustion of our units and the search for tactical opportunities in their favor. The calculation is not based on quick results, but on accumulating effect through sustained pressure and repeated actions," he added.
- On January 27, the General Staff reported that on January 26, 103 combat clashes were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with Russian forces conducting 33 attacks in the Pokrovsk direction.
