Ukrainian air defenses destroy 56 Russian drones overnight
On the night of Sunday, December 15, Russian forces launched a missile and drone attack on Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses successfully shot down 56 enemy targets
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
Between 7:00 p.m. on December 14 and the following morning, Russian forces attacked Ukraine using an S-300 anti-aircraft guided missile, 108 Shahed attack drones, and other UAV types launched from the Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, and Millerovo districts of Russia.
The assault was countered by Ukraine's anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups. As of 8:30 a.m., 56 drones had been confirmed destroyed across the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Due to active countermeasures, 49 Russian drones failed to reach their targets, losing location, while three more retreated to Russia.
Falling drone debris caused damage to infrastructure, apartment buildings, private homes, vehicles, and personal property in several regions of Ukraine.
