NATO allies have enough air defense systems to provide some to Ukraine — Stoltenberg

The NATO Secretary General has said that NATO member states have enough air defense systems to "be able to supply much more to Ukraine”

He said this at a press conference after a meeting in Brussels with the prime ministers of the Netherlands, Denmark and the Czech Republic.

According to Stoltenberg, there are less than a hundred air defence systems in Europe. However, NATO has a "significant number of Patriot batteries", stressing that the United States, which is the ally with the largest number of such systems, "has a global responsibility".

"But the reality is that we certainly have systems available, and we have enough to supply much more to Ukraine," the secretary general stressed.

On April 4, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in Brussels that Germany had initiated a search for available Patriot air defense systems for Kyiv.

The same day, Valerii Riabykh, a military expert and development director of the media and consulting company Defense Express, noted that the partners have reserves for the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine.

A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will be held on Friday, April 19, with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
