NATO: Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons is psychological intimidation

NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană said that the nuclear threat of Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently only a psychological intimidation

Geoană described Putin's threats as "a discourse that delves into the logic of psychological intimidation rather than real intentions".

"We do not see any imminent threat of Russia using these weapons. But these statements are in themselves very dangerous, because they erode trust. Russia knows the consequences of taking such a step," he added.

In addition, Geoană promised that NATO "continue to make sure that we support Ukraine and avoid escalation with Russia".

He also responded to Macron's proposal to deploy troops to Ukraine, saying that NATO respects the right of allies to propose new ideas, but has no plans to deploy troops to Ukraine.
