Political analyst and co-founder of the National Platform for Resilience and Cohesion Oleh Saakyan believes that U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has drawn attention to Ukraine because of how controversial he is

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

‘After the elections are over, the House of Representatives and part of the Senate will change, so we will get a completely different domestic political situation in the United States in addition to a new resident of the White House. Therefore, it is clear that the second strategic task is to ensure that we are in a better position to enter the new period. For this, in fact, the Victory Formula or Victory Plan, with which Zelenskyy almost went all-in to create these positions for Ukraine and to intercept part of the agenda, even to impose a conversation about the Ukrainian victory. And in the context of the situation, Trump's outburst, even because of its scandalous nature, added to this attention,’ he said.

The political analyst noted that before the Trump scandal, the main topic was the Middle East.

‘Many American colleagues noticed a very interesting thing: before Ukraine's trip, the key focus was on Israel and the Middle East, and there was almost no public talk about Ukraine. Although at the UN, Ukraine was actually the second most important topic after the Middle East, because we lost on the agenda. But in particular, due to all these maneuvers around Trump, thanks to the Victory Plan and Trump's actions, Ukraine came to the forefront and, on the contrary, all the media started talking about Ukraine, we managed to intercept the agenda and set it in the United States,’ said Oleh Saakyan.

  • On September 26, it was reported that U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had criticized the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States.
  • Journalist Vitaliy Portnikov believes that Donald Trump had a strong desire to humiliate Volodymyr Zelenskyy and show that he should be respected.
