Captured Russian soldiers name money as motivation to fight in Ukraine
Dmytro Kozhubenko, an officer of the planning section of the Rubizh brigade, said that captured Russian soldiers say they go to war only to earn money
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“In a conversation with one of the captured occupiers, we asked him why they are going to this war. According to him, their main motivation is to make money. Although, apparently, this is not their main, but their only goal. They are promised a large sum of money for participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war. In principle, that's all. They are not motivated enough to reach our positions and die. They are sent to storm our positions, and if they refuse, they are threatened to be killed by their own men,” said Kozhubenko.
According to the officer, better-trained Russian assault units receive significantly higher payments compared to standard units.
“There are also well-trained elite assault units of the occupiers. They have been trained for this purpose and do not know how to do anything else. Of course, they receive other payments. Therefore, the main goal of the occupiers to go to this war is to make money, and the other is not to die at the hands of their own citizens,” he added.
