Macron may represent Europe in ceasefire talks with Putin — media

The Telegraph reported the information, citing a source in the Elysee Palace. 

According to him, Macron is ready to take on this role “when the time comes.” At the same time, when asked whether it was time to resume contacts with the Kremlin leader, the Elysee Palace representative said: “Perhaps not yet.” 

The publication recalled that after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the French leader positioned himself as Europe's mediator in relations with Putin. He kept diplomatic channels open with Moscow, despite criticism of such actions. However, Macron stopped any direct contacts with the Kremlin when it became clear to him that Putin had no intention of stopping the war.
