He announced this on the social network X.
“Glad to announce that Lithuania joins the Air Defence Capability Coalition led by Germany, France and the United States. We will contribute by providing Ukraine with mobile air surveillance radars.
Military support to Ukraine is crucial. Ukraine needs weapons, not promises. Let's walk the talk," he wrote.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to Vilnius's decision and thanked Lithuania.
"Lithuania's contribution is very valuable to us. The rapid strengthening of Ukraine's air defence is a key to countering Russian aggression, protecting our people and defending our positions on the front line. I am grateful to Lithuania for its assistance in this regard," the Ukrainian leader stressed.
- On May 29, the Lithuanian government approved the purchase of €13.5 million worth of air surveillance radars as part of a German initiative to strengthen Ukraine's air defence.
