Latvian citizen detained on charges of planning sabotage in Ukraine - media
The Latvian Prosecutor's Office has charged the Latvian with traveling to Ukraine to commit an act of sabotage
This was reported by Delfi with reference to the Prosecutor's Office of Latvia.
According to the prosecutor's office, the man is accused of attempting to illegally participate in an armed conflict and travelling to Ukraine to commit sabotage. The suspect is currently in custody.
The accused is a citizen of Latvia, Ivan Tarabanov. His trial in the Riga City Court is scheduled for June 7.
In January 2022, he, not being a member of the Latvian Armed Forces, violated the provisions of the Law on the Participation of the National Armed Forces of Latvia in International Operations in order to participate in the armed conflict in Ukraine.
The man received the task to carry out a sabotage on the territory of Ukraine from a person not identified in the criminal proceedings - Alexandra.
Later, the man travelled to Ukraine to implement his plan.
