The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 08:00 on September 22.

Yesterday Russia launched three missile strikes targeting Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas. These included ten missiles and 77 airstrikes, with 116 guided bombs dropped. In addition, they carried out over 5,000 shelling attacks — 175 from MLRS — and deployed more than 1,570 'kamikaze' drones for strikes.

Airstrikes specifically targeted settlements like Peremoha, Novenke, Yastrubyne, Shalyhyne, Richky, Kharkiv, Kozacha Lopan, Balakliya, Kivsharivka, Kupyansk, Petropavlivka, Druzhelyubivka, Tverdohlibove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, Stupochky, Toretsk, Bila Hora, Druzhba, Dachne, Kleban-Byk, Oleksandro-Kalynove, Oleksandropil, Bohoyavlenka, Shakhtarske, Rivnopil, Lezhynka, Orihiv, Temyrivka, and Kozatske.

Throughout the day, Ukraine’s Defense Forces responded by striking six Russian command centers, 18 personnel concentrations, two weapon and equipment depots, and four artillery positions.

Frontline situation

Kharkiv direction: Russian forces attempted to storm Vovchansk. Russian aircraft also bombarded civilian areas in Kharkiv, damaging homes and infrastructure.

Kupyansk direction: Seven assaults were launched by Russian troops. Ukrainian forces successfully pushed back attacks near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kruhlyakivka, Kotlyarivka, Stelmakhivka, and Lozova.

Lyman direction: Russian forces launched 28 attacks, attempting to breach defenses near Druzhelyubivka, Cherneshchyna, Hrekivka, Nevske, Torske, Terny, Makiivka, Novosadove, and Bilohorivka.

Siversk direction: Ukrainian troops repelled Russian assaults near Vyimka.

Kramatorsk direction: The occupiers carried out 11 attacks in the areas of Kalynivka, Maiske, Andriivka, and Bila Hora.

Toretsk direction: Supported by airstrikes, Russian forces launched 12 attacks near Nelipivka, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka.

Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian defenders stopped 28 Russian assaults in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretsk, Krasnyi Yar, Novohrodivka, Selydove, Marynivka, and Mykhailivka. The heaviest fighting took place near Selydove.

Kurakhove direction: The Defense Forces fended off 25 attacks. Russian forces were most active around Heorhiivka, while also attacking Tsukuryne, Hirnyk, Kostyantynivka, Katerynivka, and Zhelanne Druhe.

Vremivka direction: Nine Russian assaults targeted Ukrainian positions in the areas of Vuhledar, Katerynivka, Vodyane, and Pavlivka, with heavy use of bomber aircraft.

Huliaipole direction: Russian invaders launched unsuccessful attacks near Huliaypole.

Orikhiv direction: Russian troops stormed Ukrainian positions near Robotyne, Novoandriivka, and Novodanylivka four times.

Operations in Kursk region continue. Russian airstrikes are devastating their own villages and towns. In the past day, Russian aircraft launched 26 airstrikes with 33 anti-aircraft missiles on Russian territory.

No signs of Russian offensive groups were observed along the Belarusian border.

Along the borders of Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russian forces continued using artillery and aircraft to attack Ukrainian settlements from their own territory.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue to inflict heavy losses on Russian manpower and equipment, actively diminishing their ability to sustain offensive operations.

  • Yesterday alone, the Russian army lost 1,500 soldiers on the front, while Ukraine also destroyed multiple units of enemy equipment.
