Historical fact: FM Kuleba comments on Biden's statement on Ukraine's optional NATO membership
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba calls Ukraine's future membership in NATO a 'historical fact' for which the country is currently preparing
He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
Kuleba assures that US President Joe Biden unequivocally supports Ukraine and is convinced that he sincerely wants Ukraine to win over Russian aggression. The minister expressed his gratitude to the American leader for everything he has done for Ukraine in these difficult and crucial years.
"As for Ukraine's membership in NATO, I am convinced that this is a historical fact. Ukraine will be in the Alliance, because in today's world it is simply impossible to imagine the security of the Euro-Atlantic community without Ukraine and our army. Whether someone likes it or not, this is the reality,” he commented on Biden's statement about Ukraine's optional membership in NATO.
According to Kuleba, this is a matter of opportunity. Now Ukraine is preparing for this historic moment as much as possible, and when it comes, Ukraine's accession to NATO should take a matter of weeks, not months or years, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy added.
- During the Alliance's annual summit in Washington this summer, NATO plans to offer Ukraine a security package that will serve as a bridge to membership.
