Kremlin wipes out Trump’s peace efforts
It is important to understand the Kremlin’s maneuvering tactics: press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the end of the war, which was unleashed by the aggressor country Russia, must be achieved with Ukraine, not with the United States
Are they really recognizing Ukraine’s subjectivity? After several years of demanding direct dialogue with the U.S. and calling the “Kyiv regime” a puppet, what has changed?
"This maneuver is, in fact, a public nullification of all the efforts of Trump and Witkoff, and a return to the negotiating position of “achieving all the goals of the special military operation.” Thus, on Trump’s 100th day, the story of his peacemaking is officially closed by the Russian side."
What remains to be found out is whether Witkoff was being led on, actually being promised agreement to his plan, which he brought to Paris two weeks ago, or whether in reality no one promised him anything, and he, consciously or unconsciously, took wishful thinking for reality, misleading everyone, but above all his own boss.
In any case, this page is closed. The process will someday start again from a clean slate. And we no longer need to rack our brains over how to respond to a possible unilateral U.S. recognition of the annexation of Crimea.
