Kremlin says no "сlear framework" yet for future peace deal with Ukraine
Russia considers recent contacts with Washington, including those related to the war in Ukraine, to be constructive and substantive
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated this during a briefing on April 15, as reported by Russia's TASS propaganda agency.
“We view the recent constructive and substantive contacts very positively,” he said, commenting in particular on the April 11 meeting in St. Petersburg between Putin and Trump’s special envoy, Witkoff.
Peskov also responded to Witkoff’s claim that both sides are moving closer to a peace agreement on Ukraine. The Kremlin, he said, allegedly has the political will to pursue this path.
“There are still no clear outlines of any agreement. But there is political will to move toward such a deal,” Peskov stated.
He declined to specify a timeline for when concrete settlement proposals regarding Ukraine might be expected.
“We’d like to hope for the best, that this work will yield positive results. But at the moment, we wouldn’t name any specific timeframe,” Putin’s spokesperson added.
