On the Lyman front, Russian forces have stuck with the same tactics for months, throwing poorly trained infantry and massive drone swarms at Ukrainian positions. Despite relentless pressure, Ukrainian defenders continue holding the line, keeping Russian troops from reaching the city of Lyman

Rostyslav Yashchyshyn, head of the Communications Department of the 63rd Brigade, 3rd Corps, stated this on Espreso TV.

"The situation on the Lyman front has remained unchanged for a very long time. Russian forces continue doing the same thing they've been doing for many months - infiltration. They keep throwing poorly trained infantry at our positions, trying to bypass them, attempting to slip through somewhere, hide, dig in, and survive the worst that awaits them - which is, of course, our drones and our infantry. And then, if they're lucky, carry out further tasks. But we can say frankly that practically everything moving on our land without permission is ruthlessly destroyed. This applies to the ground," Yashchyshyn noted.

According to the head of the Communications Department of the 63rd Brigade, in the air, Ukrainian Defense Forces are dealing with a huge number of Russian Molniya drones, as well as other UAVs - both fiber-optic and conventional analog drones.

"And all of this is flying around like at Istanbul Airport. The sky is practically never clear - it's always full of drones. That's the situation in the Lyman area. But despite all this, no matter how difficult it is, our infantry continues to hold positions. Our electronic warfare service continues to suppress Russian FPV drones. Our anti-aircraft gunners continue to shoot down Molniyas.

We're doing everything to prevent Russian forces from reaching the city of Lyman. And we're succeeding, even though we have to fight on three fronts, because Russian troops can advance not only from the east, but also from the south and north. It's very difficult, but we're holding on," Yashchyshyn emphasized.

  • On Monday, December 22, 100 combat clashes were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with Russian forces carrying out 33 attacks on the Pokrovsk front.
