Zelenskyy: Inviting Ukraine to NATO will show that it is not Putin who is changing world
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that inviting Ukraine to join NATO is a preventive step that will show that it is not Russian leader who is changing the world, but the whole world is ready to change the aggressor
The President of Ukraine expressed this opinion at a press conference following his participation in the European Council meeting.
‘NATO is a sensitive issue for the United States of America. All this time, they have believed that NATO is about dragging the Alliance into war. Even the invitation to Ukraine to join NATO seems to be such a red line. But in my opinion, legally, they are not. And it's not fair. If you really want, and not just say, that Ukraine will be in NATO and that it is very important for the security of the European continent, then this must be matched by actions. Words must always go hand in hand with actions,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that in his opinion, the invitation of Ukraine to NATO was ‘no red lines’.
‘With whom - with a murderer - are there red lines? So, the invitation is a preventive step. It is to show that it is not Putin who is changing the course of the whole world, but rather that the whole world is ready to change this or that aggressor who begins to live outside the world's rules. That is why this issue is critical to me,’ the President added.
