Russia seizes largest area of Ukrainian territory in October — Deep State report
In October 2024, Russian forces took control of approximately 490 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory — marking the highest territorial gain in a year of their offensive
This information comes from Deep State.
"490 sq. km is the largest area taken in 2024 and during the ongoing Russian counteroffensive, which began in October 2023," the report states.
The report highlights this figure as a reflection of the Russian Armed Forces' capabilities: their training quality, level of mechanization, ability to conduct long-range strikes, and most critically, their effective use of manpower.
Analysts note that Russian forces are learning from past mistakes. While “meat assault units” used to be the standard approach, they’re now spending extra weeks and months training personnel within their regiments and brigades.
"Territory lost is, of course, significant, but it’s not the only measure of the army’s resilience and effectiveness. Where they previously advanced on Novomykhailivka with four full-sized companies in October 2022, such maneuvers have now become a costly luxury," the analysts observe.
- On November 5, there were 140 combat clashes along the front line. The Kurakhove sector faced the toughest action, with Ukrainian Defense Forces repelling 56 attacks.
