How "queen" drones help Russia to advance in Ukraine's Selydove
The occupying Russian army has used “queen” drones near Selydove in the Donetsk region to advance with minimal reliance on armored vehicles
Vitaliy Mylovydov, a spokesman for the 15th Kara-Dag Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, stated this, as reported by ArmyInform.
He noted that Russian troops are largely not employing armored vehicles and have instead adopted innovative tactics with drones, particularly using "queen" drones.
“It was in this area that we likely encountered the first combination of a drone with an attached FPV drone. The area of destruction was expanded due to the depth of the main reconnaissance UAV's advancement, which adjusted for target movement and dropped the FPV drone directly in the target area,” the spokesman said.
He emphasized that the situation in Selydove remains complicated. Russian forces have been actively attacking for almost a week now, using large reserves and partially redeploying units from the northern part of the Pokrovsk front. Russian troops have been attacking from three flanks: the northern outskirts, the east, and the south.
According to Mylovydov, Russia is employing artillery and air defense systems extensively, particularly UAVs. “They targeted and partially destroyed some of the western outskirts of the city of Selydove to hinder the defense and consolidation of Ukrainian units in that area,” he stated.
“The use of artillery is less active now, but nevertheless, Ukrainian troops' positions and adjacent ones are subjected to regular attacks by both air strikes and artillery,” the spokesman added.
- Since the beginning of Sunday, October 27, there have been 142 combat clashes reported on the frontline. Russian troops are most actively attacking in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions.
