Ukraine and Russia begin hearings at Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague
Starting Monday, September 23, The Hague will host hearings on Ukraine's claim against Russia for violating its rights under the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea

The hearings, set to run from September 23 to October 5, will be held in the Permanent Court of Arbitration's chamber, located in the Peace Palace.
The proceedings will focus on the merits of the case, as well as issues of jurisdiction and admissibility.
The sessions are slated to start at 10 a.m. local time on September 23. Ukraine will present its case first, followed by the Russian Federation.
No public access will be granted during the hearings in any form until their conclusion.
Later, the Court’s website is expected to release public information. However, the opening and closing statements from both parties will be available to the public.
- Recently, it was reported that Ukraine’s Security Service is gathering evidence for The Hague regarding Russian forces’ use of anti-personnel mines, which have resulted in the deaths of 297 civilians.
