German Ambassador to Ukraine visits Zaporizhzhia

German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger visits Zaporizhzhia, witnessing destruction firsthand, stresses necessity of enhanced air defense for effective reconstruction efforts

Jaeger noted that shelling takes place daily in the region.

He emphasized that the region is 70% occupied by Russia, with the front line passing through it. Behind the front line, a harsh occupation regime is enforced by Russia, where violence and injustice prevail.

The ambassador assured that Zaporizhzhia region is a part of Ukraine, and in places like Zaporizhzhia it is decided whether Ukraine will be able to defend its independence. He noted that Germany provides support, German weapons help to hold the front, and German interests are also protected in Zaporizhzhia.

Jaeger stressed that assistance has long been provided in Zaporizhzhia by Germany. Close collaboration is being maintained with Governor Ivan Fedorov and local representatives. Medical aid, reconstruction, generators - what is needed is supplied. More emphasis is placed on the necessity.

He mentioned that the Russian army is bombing residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure. Jaeger witnessed the destruction with his own eyes.

Jaeger emphasized that reconstruction requires time and effort. Without improvement in air defense, this work risks being futile.

The German ambassador and the head of the regional state administration also visited the German company PROFINE. The ambassador said he was impressed by the amount of social and humanitarian assistance provided by the company's employees.
