General Staff reports 61 battles at front, 16 repelled Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this on March 29.

Russian attacks across Ukraine 

Over the last day, Russia launched 38 missile strikes, 59 airstrikes, and 72 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 10 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 10 attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar shelling hit more than 10 localities.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian soldiers repelled two attacks near Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian troops, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Umanske, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. About 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Vodiane in the Donetsk region, where the invading forces tried to break through the Ukrainian defense more than 20 times. Over 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian troops, with the support of aviation, launched 2 unsuccessful attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia made two attacks on the Ukrainian troops' positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River over the last day. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck a control center, an anti-aircraft missile system, and 10 military positions.

The missile troops' units struck 2 manpower concentration areas, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, and an artillery unit.

• On March 29, 121 fallen soldiers were returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation activities.
