He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

“For a number of reasons, Europe is unable to ensure lasting peace in Ukraine without the U.S. European countries do not have the financial resources for military aid to Ukraine. It should be noted that the combined military budgets of European countries are significantly smaller than that of the United States. Secondly, the decision-making mechanism in the European Union is such that it will be very difficult for nearly 30 countries to agree on specific steps,” said the Executive Director of the Institute of World Policy.

Yevhen Mahda concluded that these factors must be taken into account and understood in order to align with those European countries that can be trusted.

  • On March 1, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she would propose to the U.S. and EU countries to immediately convene a joint summit to discuss a plan for addressing the “great challenges of today.”
  • Later, it became known that Zelenskyy would also join a special meeting of the European Council, where a draft communiqué is expected to be adopted.
  • On March 6, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at an extraordinary summit of European leaders in Brussels, where he held meetings with French President Macron, European Commission President von der Leyen, and European Council President Costa. At the European Council meeting, the president outlined the initial steps toward achieving a just peace in Ukraine.
