Escalation of war in Black Sea: when to expect new Russian attacks despite ships destroyed by Ukraine?

Andriy Klymenko, Ukrainian journalist, economist and BlackSeaNews portal editor-in-chief, assessed the results of the Ukrainian naval war against Russia and predicted the possible consequences of Russia's response

He said this on Espreso TV.

"Last year alone, we counted at least 26 attacks on ships at sea, and I emphasize that we did not count the cases when there were attacks in the bay or at the Sevastopol Shipyard. And, I would put an exclamation point here, most of these attacks took place at a distance of about 120 kilometers from the Bosphorus, and from the Bosphorus to Sevastopol is 501 kilometers. That is, it was closer to the coast of Turkey, which is exactly where the recommended so-called routes of commercial ships sailing from the Bosporus towards the ports of Greater Odesa are," Klymenko explained the attacks on Russian Black Sea Fleet warships.

According to the journalist, as a result of such actions by Ukrainian troops, Russians began to be afraid to go to sea not only to Zmiinyi Island, but even to the route of commercial ships.

"This should also be assessed calmly and realistically. Now the Russians have already copied the Ukrainian drone, and they have the opportunity, because they have a huge industrial base, to organize their mass production. And I have a feeling that we will see this year, when March passes, April and May come, when there are fewer storms in the Black Sea, we will see, realistically speaking, an escalation of the naval war in the Black Sea. That is, now we have an advantage, we have achievements and they are very interesting and important, but nothing is over yet and everything will be different," summarized the editor-in-chief of the BlackSeaNews portal.
