Russian army's activity decreases near border in Sumy region - Ukrainian military
Dmytro Lantushenko, a spokesman for the 117th Brigade, says that no Russian forces are currently amassing on the border with Sumy region
He said this on Espreso TV.
"The situation on the border in the Sumy region is really very dynamic. While a few weeks ago we recorded an increase in enemy troops, personnel and equipment on the border with Sumy region, the situation has changed. According to our intelligence and the Defence Forces units operating directly in that area of responsibility, today we cannot say that Russia is amassing and increasing its forces and reserves. We even record a decrease in mortar or artillery attacks. In particular, over the past few weeks. However, the enemy has significantly increased the use of drones," said Lantushenko.
According to the spokesman, the Russian army is constantly trying to conduct information and psychological operations calling for surrender.
"Every day, the enemy tries to monitor the situation in Sumy region near the border using reconnaissance drones. Yesterday, for example, the enemy dropped propaganda materials from a drone on the Pysarivska community, calling on our military to surrender. That is, the enemy is trying to conduct information and psychological operations in this area rather than escalate hostilities," he added.
- On July 2, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, said that it cannot be ruled out that at any moment, even despite the insufficient number of forces, Russia will try to expand the bridgeheads with active combat zones.
- On Sunday evening, July 14, the Russian army shelled the town of Bilopillya in the Sumy region for half an hour with a multiple rocket launcher system: there are wounded.
