First of nine underground schools in Kharkiv is completed

The construction of the first underground school has been completed in Kharkiv. It is designed to teach 450 students in one shift

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov wrote about this in X.

"The construction of the first underground school has been completed. We are currently finalizing the few last touches before the start of classes. The premises are built to the highest safety standards, have 20 classrooms and are designed to accommodate 900 students in two shifts," the mayor informed.

According to him, the enrollment of students for the next school year is almost complete, and this year 600 children will sit down at their desks.

The day before, Terekhov said in an interview with LIGA.net that business helped to implement the project to build the underground school.

"We have almost completed the construction of the underground school. It is designed for 450 students in one shift. All this is thanks to cooperation with construction companies and international funds," the mayor said.

"We will build such schools in all nine districts of the city. Children should study in safe conditions," he added.

Terekhov also noted that the city needs more funds to rebuild the housing infrastructure.

"More than 150,000 Kharkiv residents remain homeless. In 2022, we were able to rebuild 200 houses. Last year - 67. This is a drop in the bucket," he said.
