China states Ukraine peace talks should involve more than just Russia and U.S.
China's Special Representative for European Affairs, Lu Shaye, stated that the conditions for ending the war in Ukraine should be determined by all interested parties, not just Russia and the United States
As reported by SMCP, the diplomat expressed his astonishment at how former U.S. President Donald Trump treated American allies in Europe.
"When you look at how the Trump administration implemented a brazen and authoritarian policy towards Europe, treating its allies this way, honestly, from a European perspective, it's quite appalling," he said.
He believes that European friends should reflect on this and compare Trump's administration's policy with that of the Chinese government. "By doing so, they will see that China's diplomatic approach emphasizes peace, friendship, goodwill, and mutually beneficial cooperation," Shaye added.
He welcomed discussions between the U.S. and Russia aimed at ending the war in Ukraine but stressed that any peace process must recognize and involve all concerned parties, including European countries.
"Different proposed solutions should be subject to equal discussion, not dictated by a few," emphasized the diplomat.
