According to the agency, Canada has authorized Airbus to use sanctioned Russian titanium in the production of aircraft.
In a statement, the corporation said that Airbus is aware of the restrictions imposed by the Canadian government on the Russian company VSMPO-Avisma and has received the necessary authorization to ensure safety and operations in accordance with the current sanctions.
At the same time, the Canadian government did not respond to Reuters' inquiries about this.
VSMPO-Avisma is the world's largest titanium producer, which was sanctioned by Canada in February this year.
In 2022, after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Airbus announced its intention to stop supplying titanium from Russia within a few months. The company expanded its purchases in the United States and Japan. At the same time, certification of new suppliers through aerospace standards can take years, Airbus noted.
