This was stated in a report from the British Ministry of Defense.
“During the Russian offensive to capture Bakhmut, intense fighting and indiscriminate targeting of buildings resulted in extensive damage throughout the city. Schools, train stations and residential buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, have been damaged, and in some cases, destroyed,” the statement reads.
British intelligence satellite imagery reveals extensive damage in Bakhmut, including the destruction of a stadium, school, and train station.
Bakhmut has been the epicenter of fighting since August 2022 and fell under Russian control by spring 2023. The city is now 80% destroyed due to intense battles.
