British company's wind turbine destroyed by Russia's UAV attack in Odesa region

A wind turbine belonging to the British company Elementum Energy was damaged in Odesa region as a result of Russian attack

The equipment cannot be restored.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

On January 8, the ministry said that due to severe weather conditions in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region, a wind gust knocked down a wind turbine. However, on January 9, Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that the wind turbine was caused by the self-detonating drone.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries among the staff. The damaged wind turbine, which belongs to the British company Elementum Energy, cannot be repaired. Its capacity was 5.5 MW," the press service said.

"After the attack, a partial shutdown of the wind farm was initiated. Work is currently underway to restore electricity supply to consumers," they added.

Reference: A wind turbine is a device for converting kinetic wind energy into electricity, consisting of a wind turbine, an electric generator and auxiliary equipment. The production of wind turbines is a complex and knowledge-intensive industry. The main difference between wind power plants and thermal power plants is the complete absence of raw materials and waste. Ukraine is striving to develop green energy to bring it closer to EU standards.
