Belarus decides to inspect tactical nuclear weapons carriers
Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered an inspection of tactical nuclear weapons carriers

A division of the Iskander operational and tactical complex and a squadron of Su-25 aircraft will be subject to a surprise inspection. The inspection will be carried out in accordance with the time schedule set by Lukashenko, the propagandists say, but do not specify what time period they are talking about.
The Minister of Defense of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, said that the authorities plan to check the whole range of measures from planning, preparation and use of strikes with tactical nuclear munitions.
As a reminder, on May 6, Russia announced that it would treat the F-16 multi-purpose fighter jets that Ukraine is to receive from its Western partners as nuclear weapons carriers, regardless of their modification.
What is known about nuclear weapons in Belarus
On March 25, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a storage facility for Russian tactical nuclear weapons would be built in Belarus by July.
On March 31, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus could also adopt strategic nuclear weapons if necessary.
In April, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of Iskanders, which can carry nuclear warheads, to Belarus. And in late May, the Belarusian army held exercises during which it trained to strike with Iskanders.
Self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko said that nuclear weapons could be used from the territory of Belarus only in case of a direct threat to his country.
On June 16, Putin said that Russia had transferred some nuclear weapons to Belarus, and on December 27, 2023, Lukashenko said that all the planned Russian nuclear weapons had been delivered to Belarus.
