Ukrainian medics use drone to deliver blood for soldier's survival

The medical service of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade Azov carried out a unique operation to save an injured soldier in combat conditions.

During a combat mission, a soldier sustained a severe shrapnel wound to the neck, leading to critical blood loss. Due to shelling and the difficult situation at the front, evacuation was complicated, and the chances of survival were rapidly decreasing.

To save the soldier's life, the medics made the radical decision to deliver blood directly to the position using a drone. The operation was successful: the soldiers were able to perform a transfusion on-site, after which the evacuation team transported the injured soldier to doctors.

The soldier's condition is currently stable, and he is undergoing infection control. Doctors are optimistic about his quick recovery.

"When every minute counts, we had to resort to an unconventional solution — a blood drop from a drone to save the soldier's life. In conditions where traditional methods don't work, we find new ways to save lives, and it worked. This is an unprecedented case," said the head of the medical unit with the call sign Dark.
