Russia moves planes further away from Ukraine due to ATACMS – military expert Zgurets discusses implications
Serhiy Zgurets, director of Defense Express, highlighted that the introduction of ATACMS missiles with a 300 km range into the Armed Forces' arsenal compelled the enemy to relocate their aviation deeper within their territory
He stated it on Espreso TV.
"Yesterday, we analyzed the attacks in Crimea. The Defense Express agency suggested that these were ATACMS. Today, we're awaiting satellite images for confirmation. Although we don't have confirmation yet, the potential use of ATACMS, with a range of 300 km, offers significant opportunities for Ukraine. The enemy is already reacting. This morning, there was interesting information that the enemy started relocating airfields away from the Ukrainian border," noted Zgurets.
The director of Defense Express recalled that typically, the enemy's "jump" airfields are about 200 km from the Ukrainian border.
"These airfields serve the enemy's front-line aircraft and helicopters that could be used near the contact line. So, the introduction of ATACMS with a 300 km range forced the Russians to move their aircraft deeper into their territory," emphasized Zgurets.
- US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pledged to supply Ukraine with "as many ATACMS missiles as possible" and urged partners to provide Patriot systems.
- White House advisor John Kirby rejected Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's claims of Russian success in neutralizing ATACMS missiles.
