Ukraine's energy security decreases after each strike – nuclear energy expert Lytvynsky
Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, former employee of the Institute for Nuclear Research at Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences Ludwig Lytvynsky spoke about the level of nuclear safety and the current state of Ukraine's energy sector after the massive strike on November 28
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"If we talk about nuclear safety, it remains at the same level as it was before. As for the Zaporizhzhia NPP, it presents a serious danger, but other nuclear power plants are safe. However, this only applies to nuclear and radiation hazards. When it comes to Ukraine's energy security, after each strike, it is, of course, reduced," he said.
Ludwig Lytvynsky explained that this is due to the ongoing Russian attacks on the energy sector.
"As the networks are gradually disabled, they are restored, but each time they cannot be fully restored because the strikes are repeated. However, this only concerns the grid, and nuclear power plants are not affected in any way. A serious nuclear danger would only arise from potential missile strikes directly targeting the power units," said the former employee of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
- On the evening of November 27, the Russian army launched attack UAVs on Ukrainian territory, and in the morning of November 28, Tu-95MS bombers took off and launched missiles. The attacks caused damage to energy infrastructure facilities in several regions, and people were also injured.
