Active front line increased: AFU Commander-in-Chief on situation in eastern Ukraine
Fierce combat actions of varying intensity continue in the eastern sector of the frontline, and the active frontline has been extended
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He noted that he had been working on the eastern front for a week, in particular, he visited almost all brigades of the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Vremivka, Toretsk, and Kramatorsk directions, as well as those fighting in Vovchansk and near Kharkiv.
"Compared to the previous trip two weeks ago, the Toretsk direction has been added, where the soldiers of the 95th Air Assault Brigade heroically reduce the number of enemy hordes every day," wrote Syrskyi.
He added that the situation in the Pokrovsk sector remains difficult. Despite the reinforcement of Ukrainian units with reserves, this area requires constant attention and additional ammunition and firepower.
"The enemy, aiming to break through our defenses, once again replaced the strike units whose assault units completely lost their combat capability and continued their offensive. Despite the high losses in armored vehicles, the Russian army continues to use them in combination with intense artillery fire and FPV drone strikes," the statement said.
In other areas, according to Syrskyi, the intensity of hostilities has decreased, although the active frontline has increased in general.
Regarding the problematic issues that, according to Syrskyi, he studied directly in the combat areas, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine highlighted the following
- staffing units and subunits with motivated, well-trained military personnel
- provision of modern electronic warfare and air defense equipment capable of effectively combating enemy UAVs.
At the same time, Syrskyi stressed that the Ukrainian army has an advantage in the number and quality of combat copters, primarily bombers and FPV drones, and the skill of the operators who use them. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed that this is the key to success and the preservation of soldiers' lives.
- According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 93 combat engagements took place on the frontline from the beginning of the day on July 2. Russian troops are increasing the pace of their offensive in Donetsk region.
