Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, said this at the Ukraine. 2024 Forum.

"Our quick response and technological capabilities have led to the fact that 90% of all UAVs used on the battlefield today are UAVs produced in Ukraine," the minister emphasized.

He noted that a large team of government officials, business, and the public sector is working on this process, influencing the development of more technology in Ukraine.

Fedorov reminded that over the past year, more than 20 regulatory acts have been adopted, creating the best conditions for doing technology business in the field of military technology in the world. "At the end of last year, President Zelenskyy announced a plan to produce over a million drones this year. Now the entire government team is working on this, and in January and February, there was an active contracting process. Hundreds of thousands of UAVs have already been contracted, and this target will be met this year," he said.

According to Fedorov, there will be more than a million FPV drones alone in 2024. In general, there will be more reconnaissance aircraft, attack copters, kamikaze drones, maritime drones, ground platforms and electronic warfare this year.

The Minister of Digital Transformation also claimed that the Armed Forces will eventually be able to control drones far from the front line, and this technology is already in operation. "This is already working, only now the product line will expand, as many different types of UAVs can be launched remotely. But in fact, current technologies allow us to do this," he said.

He added that Ukraine has access to the best technologies, including satellite communications from many NATO countries. According to him, not all types of UAVs or platforms are yet available, but in his opinion, it is a matter of time. He noted that "guys from Vinnytsia and Lviv" will be able to operate drones at the front.

  • On Saturday, February 24, Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn and CEO of Helsing GmbH Gundbert Scherf signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the security and defense sector, according to which Ukrainian-made drones will be equipped with AI.
