These are the results of a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center.

"83% of respondents believe in Ukraine's victory in the war (72% of residents of the south, 75% of residents of the eastern region, 87% of residents of the western and 88% of residents of the central regions), 11% do not believe (from 7% in the central region to 21% in the south)," the sociologists say.

It is noted that among the respondents who believe in victory, 39% believe that it will come in 1-2 years, 19.5% believe that it will come by the end of this year, 15% believe that it will take 3 to 5 years, 5% believe it will take more than 5 years, and 2% believe that victory will happen "unlikely in my lifetime.”

"The most optimistic expectations of victory were in February-March 2023 - then 50% believed that victory would come by the end of 2023," the Razumkov Center said.

The sociologists also note that 38% of those who believe in victory believe that the de-occupation of all Ukrainian territories and the restoration of the borders as of January 2014 can be considered a victory. At the same time, 7.5% of Ukrainians believe that the withdrawal of Russian troops from all territory except Crimea would be a victory. In turn, 17.5% would consider the destruction of the Russian army and the promotion of an uprising or disintegration within Russia a victory. For 8%, the end of the war would be a victory, even if the Russian army remains in the territories that were captured as a result of a full-scale invasion.

The Razumkov Center added that a relative majority (47%) of Ukrainians believe that permission from Western countries for Ukraine to use Western weapons without restrictions on targets in Russia is more likely to lead to peace in Ukraine than negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Only 29% of respondents consider such negotiations a more effective way to achieve peace.

Sociologists also asked how Ukrainians feel about the operation in the Kursk region. It is noted that 58% of respondents were positive about it, only 20% were negative, and 7% of respondents said they did not care. Another 16% have not decided on the answer.

  • According to the Razumkov Center, only 28% of Ukrainians are positive about the idea of holding national elections in Ukraine (presidential or parliamentary) before the end of the war.
