189 combat clashes occur at frontline, 49 Russian attacks repelled in Pokrovsk direction - Ukraine's General Staff

This is stated in the report of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff as of 8:00 a.m. on July 2. 

According to the General Staff, over the past day, Russia launched 5 missile strikes (using 7 missiles), 49 air strikes (involving 78 combat aircraft), and carried out almost 4600 attacks, including 146 using MLRS.

Russian forces carried out air strikes, in particular, near 12 settlements of the Kharkiv region and the city of Kharkiv; 15 in the Donetsk region; 2 in the Zaporizhzhia region; and 2 in the Kherson region.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops continued offensive actions with the support of aviation. A total of 13 combat clashes took place in the areas of Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and Hlyboke.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat clashes amounted to 17 over the last day. The Ukrainian defense forces repelled attacks near 4 settlements in the Kharkiv region and 1 more in the Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops prevented 16 assaults near 4 populated areas in the Luhansk region.

In the Siverskyi direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repulsed 21 attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and 4 more settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped seven Russian attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense in near Klishchiivka and Nove, Donetsk region.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army launched 28 attacks near Toretsk, Pivnichne, Pivdenne, Zalizne and New York in the Donetsk region.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukraine rebuffed 49 Russian attacks near 8 s in ettlements the Donetsk region.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back Russian troops near Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka, where the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defenses 10 times.

In the Vremivka direction, Russia made 14 assaults on Ukraine's positions near Vodiane, Makarivka and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, three combat clashes took place near Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces keep trying to drive the Ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions on the footholds. All nine Russian attacks were unsuccessful.

In the northeastern border area, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There are no signs of Russia's offensive groups forming.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, Russian forces maintain a military presence, conduct sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shell settlements from Russia's territory, and increase the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.

"At the same time, our soldiers continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, depleting the enemy along the entire frontline," the General Staff added.

• Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated at least 1,280 Russian troops. Russia also lost 8 tanks and 56 artillery systems.
