Ukraine reports 174 clashes at front, repels 79 Russian assaults in Pokrovsk sector

On January 17, 174 clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Ukrainian defenders stopped 79 Russian assaults in the Pokrovsk direction

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 8:00 a.m. on January 18.

“Yesterday, the Russian aggressor launched one missile attack on Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements using two missiles, and engaged 2,147 'kamikaze' drones. They also carried out about 4,000 artillery attacks, 154 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems,” the General Staff noted.

They added that over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces' missile troops and artillery hit two areas of Russian troops, weapons and military equipment concentration and two air defense facilities.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian troops made one vain attempt to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, eight Russian attacks took place over the past day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the Russian assault near Holubivka, Stepova Novoselivka and Kruhliakivka.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian invaders attacked 13 times. They tried to advance near Kopanky, Tverdokhlibove, Makiivka and Terny.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops repulsed a Russian attack near the village of Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the invading forces made 26 attacks on the Ukrainian troops' positions in the area of Chasiv Yar and in the direction of Stupochky and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian forces attacked Ukrainian troops 19 times near Toretsk, Dyliivka, Krymske and Shcherbynivka yesterday.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 79 Russian attacks in the areas of Zelene Pole, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Shevchenko, Zvirove, Udachne, Uspenivka, Sribne, Dachne, Ulaklivka and Yantarne.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops fought off two Russian attacks in the area of Velyka Novosilka and Kostiantynopil.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian troops tried to advance once in the direction of Novodanylivka, but faced repulsion.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully beat back two Russian attacks.

In the Huliaipole direction, the occupying Russian army did not conduct any active operations.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian troops rebuffed 16 Russian attacks over the past day.

Along the Belarusian border, no signs of Russian offensive group formations were detected.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,340 personnel and about fifty pieces of weaponry in the war in Ukraine.
