167 clashes on the front line in a day, Pokrovsk axis sees intense fighting

This is according to the General Staff’s morning update as of 8:00 a.m. on May 18.

In total, 167 combat engagements were recorded over the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, Russian forces carried out 75 airstrikes on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas, dropping 106 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they launched 2,960 kamikaze drones and conducted 4,735 attacks, including 122 with multiple launch rocket systems.

The aggressor targeted several areas with airstrikes, including Bunyakyne in Sumy Oblast; Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast; Berezove in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; Kurtivka, Kostiantynivka, Bilytske, Yablunivka, and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast; Novodarivka, Temyrivka, Huliaipole, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; and Mykolaivka in Kherson Oblast.

Over the past day, Ukraine’s Defense Forces—using aviation, missile troops, and artillery—struck four areas where Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as four Russian artillery systems.

Situation on the main fronts

Over the past day, Russian forces launched three attacks in the Kharkiv direction, near Vovchansk and toward Stroivka.

On the Kupiansk front, there was one Russian attack. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an assault near Zahryzove. In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked 24 times, trying to advance near the settlements of Novoiehorivka, Lozova, Ridkodub, Hrekivka, Katerynivka, Yampolivka, and Zelena Dolyna.

In the Siverskyi direction, Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions ten times near Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianske.

In the Kramatorsk direction, eight offensive actions were recorded near Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, and toward Predtechyne, Stupochky, and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk direction, Russia carried out 14 attacks around Toretsk, Ozaryanivka, Dyliivka, and Druzhba.

On the Pokrovsk front, Ukrainian defenders stopped 54 Russian assaults and offensive actions near the settlements of Stara Mykolaivka, Yablunivka, Vozdvizhenka, Nova Poltavka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Novosergiivka, Troitske, and Andriivka.

On the Novopavlivka front, Russian forces attacked our positions 23 times near Kostyantynopol, Bahatyr, Vilne Pole, Rivnopil, Novopil, Zelene Pole, and toward Komar.

On the Orikhiv front, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy assaults near Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Mali Shcherbaky.

On the Prydniprovskiy front, Russian army conducted two offensive actions but made no progress.

On the Kursk front, 14 combat engagements occurred in the past day. Russia carried out 15 airstrikes, dropped 20 guided bombs, and launched 224 artillery attacks, including three using multiple launch rocket systems. No active offensives were recorded on the Huliaipole front.

On the Volyn and Polissya fronts, no signs of offensive group formations were detected.

Ukrainian troops continue to inflict significant losses on the Russian occupying forces in personnel and equipment while actively undermining the Russia’s offensive potential in the rear.
