140 clashes erupt along Russia-Ukraine frontline: heaviest fighting in Pokrovsk sector

On January 12, 140 combat clashes were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 58 Russian attacks

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff stated this in its morning report on January 13.

According to the updated information, yesterday Russian troops launched 42 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, dropping 58 guided bombs and launching one missile strike with a single missile. In addition, they fired over 6,000 times, including 126 times from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 2,992 ‘kamikaze’ drones.

Twelve settlements were hit by Russian airstrikes.

Yesterday the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck one Russian command post, five air defense systems, two ammunition depots, six artillery units, and three other important targets.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian troops launched four attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk and Kozacha Lopan.

In the Kupyansk sector, eight Russian attacks were recorded. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched 12 attacks, trying to advance near Kopanky, Shyikivka, Pershotravneve, Makiivka, Tverdokhlibove, Terny, and Zarichne.

In the Kramatorsk sector, 15 clashes were reported near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian troops launched 13 attacks near Toretsk, Bila Hora, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 58 Russian attacks near Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zelenе, Promin, Novyi Trud, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Kotlyne, Novovasylivka, Sribne, Petropavlivka, Novoandriivka, Dachne, Shevchenko, and Yantarne.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Russian troops, supported by aviation, attacked Ukrainian positions nine times near Kostiantynopil, Neskuchne, Vremivka, and Rivnopil. 

In the Siversk, Orikhiv, and Huliaipole sectors, no active operations have been reported since the beginning of the day.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russian forces launched one unsuccessful attack.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 Russian attacks over the past day. Russian troops fired 443 times, and launched 14 airstrikes, using 16 guided bombs.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

  • The total losses in the occupying Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 809,000 soldiers.
