138 combat clashes reported, heavy fighting in Kursk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Vremivka sectors

As of December 18, the number of combat clashes at the Russian-Ukrainian front has risen to 138. The heaviest fighting is taking place in the Kursk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka sectors

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces continue their attack on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk, launching airstrikes on Vovchanski Khutory and Udy.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions three times near Petropavlivka and Lozova. Two firefights are still ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka, Nadiia, Yampolivka, and Terny during the day. Six of the engagements have ended, while five are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled three Russian attacks, and fighting continues near Verkhniokamianske. The Russian army also tried to advance three times in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, and towards Bila Hora, with fighting still ongoing.

In the Toretsk sector, supported by aviation, Russian forces are attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near Toretsk, Diliivka, and Shcherbynivka. Eight firefights are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian troops made 27 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Zelene, Novovasylivka, Chumatske, and Novoolenivka. Ukrainian forces have repelled 19 of these attacks, with eight combat engagements still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russian forces launched 14 attacks near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove, and Dachne. Nine of their attempts to advance have been repelled.

In the Vremivka sector, 15 Russian attacks took place near Kostiantynopolske, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Novyi Komar, and Storozheve, with six firefights still ongoing.

The Russian army also attempted to advance near Novoandriivka in the Orikhiv sector, but Ukrainian forces successfully repelled the attack.

In the Kursk region, operations continue.

"Russian aircraft continues to devastate Ukrainian villages and towns. Since the start of the day, Russian planes have carried out 14 strikes, launching 17 missiles. Ukrainian forces have repelled 36 Russian attacks today, and fighting is ongoing," the General Staff reported.

  • Over the past day, the occupying Russian army lost 1,580 troops in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed a number of vehicles, including 4 tanks.
