This is stated in the General Staff's report as of 8:00 a.m. on August 17.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, nine combat clashes took place in the vicinity of Lyptsi and Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of Russian attacks reached twelve over the last day. The Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russia's assault near Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka and Andriivka. The aggressor also attacked twice in the direction of Lozova.

In the Lyman direction, the occupation army made eight attacks near Nevske, Makiivka, Torske and Dibrova.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repulsed 10 Russian assaults near Bilohorivka, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne and Pereizne.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 51 attacks in the vicinity of fifteen different settlements. The Russian invaders were most active near Vozdvyzhenka, Novozhelanne, Hrodivka and in the direction of Zelene Pole. The highest concentration of hostile attacks was recorded near Hrodivka.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army made one attack in the direction of Kostiantynivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, one attack on Ukrainian positions in the area of Mala Tokmachka was registered.

The situation in the Prydniprovskyi area remained unchanged. Russia conducted three unsuccessful attacks. In addition, it launched an air strike in the area of Odradokamianka.

No signs of Russian offensive groups were detected on the border with Belarus.

The Russian Armed Forces maintain a military presence on the border with the Chernihiv region.

The operation in the Kursk region is underway, and Ukrainian soldiers are successfully advancing. Russian servicemen continue to surrender, choosing life.

In general, along the entire line of contact, Ukrainian defenders inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting Russia's combat potential.

  • Thus, over the past day, the invading Russian army lost a number of units of its equipment and 1,230 soldiers in Ukraine.
