109 clashes at front: Russian troops advance in Pokrovsk, Kurakhove directions - Ukraine's General Staff

Since the beginning of the day on August 31, the number of combat clashes along the frontline has increased to 109. The Russians are most active in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 4:00 p.m. on August 31.

Since the beginning of the day, 109 combat engagements have taken place.

Ukraine's Sumy and Chernihiv regions are suffering from artillery shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation. Thus, 15 districts of different settlements came under enemy fire. Among them are Khrinivka, Ulanove, Velyka Pysarivka, Slavhorod, and Stepok. Sopych was shelled twice and Porozok three times. Russian terrorists fired aerial bombs, in particular, at Hlukhiv, Manukhivka, Zhuravka, and Obody.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian army is currently attacking near Vovchansk. Lyptsi and Mali Prokhody came under enemy bombardment.

In the Kupyansk sector, the Russians started storming the Ukrainian troops’ positions 12 times near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka and towards Lozova. Half of these engagements are still ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, the invading army launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Tverdokhlibove, Nevske, Novosadove, and Dibrova. Three clashes ended without success for Russia, and three are ongoing. The Russians fired rocket launchers from Ka-52 helicopters at Serhiivka.

The Russian army is trying to find a weakness in Ukrainian defense in the Siversk sector. It conducted seven attacks near Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, Zvanivka, and Spirne. The fighting near Vyimka and Verkhniokamianske is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, militants launched 12 assaults near Kalynivka, Chasovyi Yar, Andriivka and Klishchiyivka. Three of them have not yet been completed. The enemy is suffering losses. He is concentrating his efforts in the areas of Kalynivka and Andriivka.

The number of Russian attacks in the Toretsk sector increased to nine. Ukrainian troops stopped eight of them. The battle is still ongoing in the vicinity of Nelipivka, where the enemy is attacking most actively.

The Pokrovsk sector witnessed the highest number of combat engagements. Since the beginning of the day, the invading forces have already made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of seven different localities. The largest number of combat engagements, almost half, took place near Novohrodivka. Selidove and Pokrovsk were hit by guided bombs.

Twenty-one hostile attacks were registered in the direction of Ukrainske, Lisivka, Halytsynivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Kurakhove sector. The Russians made the main efforts in the areas of Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka, conducting eleven and five attacks respectively.

In the Vremivka sector, two firefights continue near Vuhledar and Vremivka. Russia attacked Makarivka three more times and was fiercely repelled.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russians unsuccessfully attacked near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. Twenty unguided aerial missiles from helicopter gunships were fired at Rivnopillya.

One enemy attack was successfully repelled in the Prydniprovskyi sector.

There were no major changes in other areas.
