Europe shifts strategy for Ukraine, focusing on defense industry funding
This was reported by Russia's TASS media with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry said that the Tu-22M3 crashed in the Irkutsk region in a deserted area, with no damage. The bomber crew ejected, the pilot was killed.
The Russian Defense Ministry also says that the crash was caused by a technical malfunction.
The Tu-22M3 is a supersonic long-range strategic bomber with variable wing geometry. This aircraft has been called the “carrier killer” because it is capable of launching supersonic Kh-22 anti-ship missiles.
The last time the Russian forces lost such an aircraft in April 2024, when it was shot down by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
