Russia to purchase about 1,000 drones from Iran - journalist

Russia has signed a contract with Iran for the purchase of about 1,000 attack and reconnaissance drones, including the Shahid 129, which can fly for over 24 hours

This was reported by the Lebanese journalist Elijah Mayeh with reference to his sources.

According to the report, Russia has signed a contract with Iran for the purchase of about 1,000 attack and reconnaissance drones, including the Shahid 129, which can fly for more than 24 hours.

"Russia signed a contract with Iran for the purchase of 1,000 drones after Iran delivered several planes and a simulator on which Russian officers trained. The first drones have already been used in Ukraine", he wrote.

According to the Lebanese journalist, over the past decade, Russia has not invested in the drone industry, but has focused on the development of hypersonic missiles, ahead of the US in this direction. However, drones became necessary for Russia in the war with Ukraine.
