Russia targets civilian energy infrastructure in Kyiv region
On the evening of September 7, 2025, Russian strike drones once again violated Ukrainian airspace. Russia attacked a thermal power facility in Kyiv region
At 6:24 p.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported the detection of drones in the region’s airspace and the operation of air defenses against Russian targets.
At 12:35 a.m., reports again emerged of Russian drones and the Ukrainian air defense forces engaging them.
In the morning, the Ministry of Energy reported that a thermal power facility in Kyiv region came under a massive attack. Rescuers and energy workers are working to eliminate the consequences of the strike.
“The obvious goal is to inflict even more hardship on Ukraine’s civilian population, leaving homes, hospitals, kindergartens, and schools without electricity and heat. Generation facilities, transmission and distribution systems, and gas infrastructure are not military targets. The Russians clearly understand that they are striking critical civilian infrastructure,” the ministry said.
- On the night of September 6, Russian forces launched a massive wave of drones and ballistic missiles at Ukrainian territory. Overnight, Kyiv came under attack, leaving casualties and injuries, with debris striking the Cabinet of Ministers building. Kryvyi Rih was also hit by ballistic missiles, resulting in deaths. Drone strikes damaged infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions.
- Russia also attacked Ukraine’s Kremenchuk overnight, causing 40 explosions over 4 hours.
