Russia strikes Ukraine with drones overnight: hits in Lviv, one killed

Russia has attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones on the night of September 19. In Lviv, a man and a woman were rescued from the rubble. Another man died

The Ukrainian Air Force reported this.

"Launches of Shahed-type strike UAVs from Primorsko-Akhtarsk were recorded," the statement reads.

The alert spread from east to west - from Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro regions through Kirovohrad, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv regions and into the western regions. Missile threats were also declared several times for other regions.

Air defense operations in Lviv region

At 4:26 a.m., the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyy, reported on the air defense operation in the region. Later he added: "It's loud in Lviv. Do not name the locations. Do not take pictures or film anything! Keep information silence!"

The Ukrainian Air Force added that "strike UAVs are in the airspace of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Khmelnytskyi regions."

At around 4:50 a.m., more explosions were heard in the Lviv region, an Espreso correspondent reported.

At 5 a.m., Kozytskyy reported new explosions and the threat of new attacks.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi also informed about the threat of an air strike and the work of air defense in the city and region.

Around 5:10 a.m., another wave of explosions was heard in Lviv. Before that, the authorities reported new drones in the sky over the region. At 5:15 a.m., the Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized that the threat still remained.

Sadovyi noted that as a result of the strike, an industrial warehouse in Lviv caught fire. Kozytskyy added that "there are still targets for Ukraine's air defense system in the sky over the Lviv region."

"As a result of one of today's attacks on Lviv, a fire broke out in an industrial warehouse. At the moment, one woman has been rescued from the rubble. She is injured. The warehouse is on fire. All specialized services are working at the scene," added Maksym Kozytskyy.

Later, Sadovyi noted that a man, not a woman, had been rescued from the rubble.  He added that operational work was ongoing.

At 5:59 a.m., the air force reported that the threat of UAV strikes on the regions had been abated. Two minutes later, the alert in the western regions was over.

At 6:05 a.m., Kozytskyy said that two people, a woman and a man, had been rescued from the rubble in Lviv.

"The woman is preliminarily without injuries. The man is in serious condition," he wrote.

Sadovyi emphasized that only one person was reported injured in the attack.

"Today a 26-year-old man was pulled out from the rubble in a warehouse in Lviv. The victim has an open limb fracture. He is already in the hospital and is being provided with all the necessary assistance," the mayor said.

At 8:50 a.m. Kozytskyy reported three hits to industrial warehouses in Lviv.

"There is one victim. He is a 26-year-old man who was in the warehouse at the time of the attack. He was hospitalized. He is in moderate condition. There was also a woman at the scene, she did not need hospitalization," added the head of the regional military administration.

He added that there were fires in four locations in the warehouses. The fire is still being extinguished.

"I want to emphasize that these are ordinary industrial warehouses. Nothing military was stored there," Kozytskyy summarized.

Around 10 a.m., Mayor Sadovyi reported the death.

"The body of a dead man who worked in a warehouse was found under the rubble," he wrote.

Later, Sadovyi said that three warehouses were destroyed. These are warehouses with windows, household chemicals, and a room where the CARITAS-SPES charity mission stored humanitarian aid.

The total area of the fire is about 10 thousand square meters.

Attack on Kryvyi Rih

At 3:15 a.m., the head of Kryvyi Rih's military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported an explosion in the city.

In the morning, the head of Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration Serhiy Lysak said that a multi-storey building caught fire due to the hit.

"The fire has been extinguished. The blast wave damaged the facades of three multi-storey buildings," he wrote.

Vilkul clarified the consequences.

"Many windows and doors in other high-rise buildings, as well as in a school and a kindergarten, were also damaged. The most important - no losses," he said.

Vilkul added that a headquarters for the elimination of the consequences had been set up at the school: "From 9 a.m., there will be provision of building materials, admission of applications for damaged property and material assistance from the city budget."

The Air Force reported that the Russian forces fired one Iskander-M ballistic missile from occupied Crimea in the direction of Kryvyi Rih.
