Russia steals at least USD 1 billion of Ukrainian wheat - Bloomberg
During the full-scale war, Russia exported at least USD 1 billion worth of wheat from the territories not controlled by Ukraine
This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the NASA Harvest study.
Thus, from the temporarily occupied territories, where, according to NASA Harvest, almost a quarter of Ukrainian wheat is grown, Russia exported 6 million tons of grain, and also collected about 88% of the winter crops sown in these territories. The value of the stolen goods is about 1 billion dollars.
It is noted that the occupiers did not harvest crops along the front line.
The study says that Russia exported grain from the occupied territories to Libya and Iran, as well as other countries. However, the volume of exports is difficult to estimate, as shippers hide the origin of the cargo.
Though Russia denies the theft of Ukrainian grain, Kremlin-installed officials publicly announce the resumption of food exports from ports in the occupied territories. The chief prosecutor of Switzerland emphasized that the commercialization of looted raw materials can be considered a war crime.
