Russia spreads fake videos with prisoners of war to defame Ukrainian Armed Forces
Russian authorities seek to worsen reputation of Ukrainian defenders by spreading fake videos with "improper" treatment of captured military personnel
Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense, reports at Military Media Center briefing.
"Kremlin authorities continue their attempts to damage reputation of Ukrainian defenders due to alleged improper treatment of prisoners of war," Hanna Maliar said.
Deputy of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine emphasized that Ukrainian Defense Forces adhere to the norms of international law, so all prisoners of war have appropriate conditions of detention.
"I would like to remind you that Russian soldiers came to our land to kill, rape and rob. Those of them who were captured are kept in proper conditions in accordance with norms of international law. Representatives of international organizations have access to them," she added.
We remind you that on November 18, Russian Ministry of Defense stated about "shooting" of Russian soldiers who tried to surrender by Ukrainian military. The New York Times also published a video of "shooting" from Makiivka in Luhansk region, which caused a stir on social networks.
