Russian propaganda sources spread the fake that Kyiv allegedly mined the Kremenchuk HPP to provoke Russia according to the Kakhovka scenario in order to create public tension and accuse the Russian army of attacking the plant.
The Center for Strategic Communications says this is fake news and refutes it. The Center's experts say that in wartime, all critical infrastructure facilities, including hydroelectric power plants, are guarded around the clock by the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the police. After the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stepped up patrols at the station.
"Russian data on the mythical "mining" of the Kremenchuk hydroelectric power plant by the Ukrainian Defense Forces is unfounded. They are based on their previous lies that Kakhovka HPP was blown up by Ukraine, when in fact it was not," the statement says.
The Center emphasizes that it is Russia that is attacking Ukraine's critical infrastructure, and as a result of the Russian troops' massive shelling in the fall and winter of 2022-2023, there is not a single undamaged thermal or hydroelectric power plant left in Ukraine.
On October 6, the government allocated an additional UAH 335 million to the Kherson region for further work aimed at implementing a program to overcome the consequences of Russia's terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
